Has anyone got a personal recommendation for reasonably priced (less than $100/night) accomodation in Sydney.  Have checked out all the usual sites but a bit overwhelmed at the choice available!

It depends if you want city centre or suburbs but hostel wise and to start off really central Wake Up is good, all the facilities you need and not too much of a shock to the system if you've not stayed in hostels before. Plus the bar downstairs is always really lively.

The YHA in Glebe is good as it's a really funky area but walking distance to the city and to avoid the crowds at Bondi but be near a beach go for anywhere in Coogee or a boat ride away at Manly.

Everywhere is pretty good as long as you stay away from Surry Hills, Central Station and Redfern!  The HostelWorld website is usually great.

That's fantastic - thanks for the info.  I'm only going to be there for 4 or 5 nights so probably need somewhere pretty central.  I like the sound of glebe though and will certainly have a look at the site you suggested - on my trawls I hadn't come across that one yet!

For $74 a night you can stay at the Y On the Park Hotel, which is very central. They also have pricier deluxe rooms:

As I say it's very central.

try these sites
lastminute.com.au
or wotif.com.au
or needitnow.com.au

I live in Australia and would never book hotels without checking these first
