is it supposed to be a play on the name of the 15 miniutes of fame guy Andy Warhol? if so why? wht does andy warhol have to do with this awesome band

I can't see how it would not be a play on his name. Only connection I can think of is that aforementioned Mr Warhol is famed for "Pop Art", and it could be considered that Pop Music is a form of such art.

Interesting question, it's always been kind of obvious that the Dandy Warhols had something to do with Andy Warhol.

The whole 'Pop-Art' theory is good, but don't forget tehy're more rock than pop!!!

Maybe he sponsors them... you never know!

You could say Andy Warhol pioneered the whole art / music crossover thing with the creation of his �Exploding Plastic Inevitable� and his involvement with The Velvet Underground. His shows mixed projections and light shows of his art with the band performing their non-commercial brand of music, featuring sado-masochistic themes and tales from the underbelly of life.

The Velvet Underground have been cited as influences by musicians ever since, from David Bowie, Sonic Youth, and The Jesus & Mary Chain to the more recent White Stripes.

As for sponsorship? �  Warhol died in 1987.
