DVD Writer Problems

For some reason my DVD Wrtier doesn't seem to register blank discs anymore. It reads discs with data on them fine, but when I want to burn a DVD or CD, it says put in a blank disc. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.

have you tried doing a test burn or using an alternative brand?

the reason is say this is that a while back my burner stopped recognising the brand of media i had been using for some time.after an exhaustive search thru the possibilities i eventually found out that a different media brand solved the problem.

mattk is quite correct, but also if you are using dvd- disc's try using dvd+ instead even if your writer supports both formats.a lot of writers seem very picky when it comes to - discs as they just don't see them.
