Is a widow's pension means tested? If I already have my own pension what happens now?

means testing only come into it if you are trying to claim benefits. if that is the case then all income is taken into account.

All income together is assesd for tax under current rules.
If you are referring to a pension payable from your late husband's private pension then this will not affect your pension unless you get pension credits or other means tested benefits.

The 'widow's pension' from the state is now called Bereavement Allowance and is payable for 12 months if the bereaved person is under pension age byt owver 45.

If you already get a state pension you cannot claim Bereavement Allowance as well. It is �90.70 per week.

If you have dependent children you may be entitled to Widowed Parent's Allowance if you are under state pension age.
