Does anyone know if this series was named after the line in the Alexei Sayle song " 'ello John, got a new motor?"? Alexei is sitting in the same colour old Ford Granada as he sings "Is there life on Mars?" over and over! Check it out on YouTube. Could it be a coincidence?

According to Wikipedia the title is taken from a song of the same name by David Bowie.

There was also a sequel called Ashes To Ashes,also a Bowie song.
