Hello i am looking for an East European Shepherd aka Byelorussian Ovcharka breeder in the united kingdom. Can someone please find out if there are any breeders in the uk? If not, then please could someone tell me HOW to import them from different countries?

And if i can only import them can someone please give me a very detailed answer about importing them?

Don't knowof any breeders but here is a link that tells you everything you need to know about importing dogs.

I imported two dogs last year and a further two are due to come in this year, so any specific questions, please ask.
this site lists some foreign kennels at the bottom, I must admit the whole site was very interesting;

There were some advertised recently on one of the free ad sites, but of course as they are not recognised in this country they cannot be registered for showing or breeding. I will go and try to find the link to the ad, although I seem to remember that the advertiser was trying to promote them as ideal family pets, when in reality they are not ideal for first time/novice dog owners.

This ad was discussed at length on one of my dog groups, and the general concensus of opinion was that it was very misleading, and likely to attract the wrong kind of person.
The guarding instinct and the care of the coat have been played down a great deal and those who show abroad and have seen these dogs being shown say they are extremely aggressive with other dogs.
The same breeder advertised on gum tree:

http://www.gumtree.com/london/89/32808589.html

There is a video of the dogs on there. They all seem to be panting heavily in the video which worries me slightly.

To be honest I would proceed with extreme caution. I wonder why these dogs are being advertised on free ad. sites.

Even if you have previously owned a giant guarding breed it will not prepare you for owning one of these dogs. You have to know the breed to know what you are taking on. Often the males will not tolerate other large male dogs and if one of these dogs gets into a fight believe me you will not stop them from killing the other dog.

That sort of size and strength is impossible for even the strongest man to hold back. Often with these type of dogs no amount of training will help - when they snap they really go, no matter what you do or say.

If you are looking for a dog that you can safely walk down the street on a normal lead and keep as a normal 'pet' dog then I would say forget this breed.

Believe me, I know what I am talking about as I own a similar giant guarding breed, he is VERY independent and headstrong and has been a liability all his life. You can forget holidays etc. as no kennel will hold him (he snapped a heavy duty bolt in two at a kennels where I worked).

Please, unless you know the breed very well proceed with the utmost caution.
There's some confusion here. The link to the advertised dogs shows the 'Central Asian Ovcharka', which is plainly of the molossan type. The question is about the Byelorussian Ovcharka, the East European Sheepdog. This is described in Desmond Morris 'Dogs', as follows. It is the result of breeding from German Shepherd Dogs imported into Byelorussia in the 1920s, to produce a bigger, more muscular version of the GSD, with a thicker coat. It is up to 29 inches/ 74 cms at the shoulder and weighs a bit over 100lb/ 48kg [GSD is 25in/64cm and 70lb/32kg ] :
"A particularly intelligent dog, with a courageous, tough, determined personality, it has acquired a secondary role as a favourite of the KGB. By tradition, those dogs that are used to patrol the Kremlin are always solid black "

Make of that what you will, but it sounds like the GSD in personality and intelligence( and presents the same need for good, intelligent handling , I'd guess, with all that entails). Don't know where you'll find one though !
Okay, just knew I had seen the name Ovcharka somewhere recently! Here's another link

Problem with importing any dog is that you cannot bring them in until they are at least nine months old.
I found it somewhat ironic that the British advertiser in lankeela's first link went to great lengths to describe the threat here in the UK from eastern european ' home invaders '........but wants us to import their dogs!
A very strange ad....
Not at all, pastafreak. You need a dog imported from Eastern Europe to protect you from Eastern European home invaders. Obvious really. LOL
