When writing an academic report what are "appendices"?

Stuff that's relevant to the report, but you don't want it in the main body of the text cluttering it up, example if you were writing the history of a pop group, you would probably put the complete discography listing as an appendix.

If you were writing up the results of some research which you'd done and the results were based on a questionnaire that you'd written then you could include a copy of the questionnaire in the Appendix.

As mentioned, anything that's relevant to the report but not suitable for the body of it. Have a look at other academic reports in journals to give you an idea what the pro's put in there.

your appendix should contain things like raw data, stats, ect that can be refered to by the reader, you only put the important bits i your report to make it concise, but everything else in the appendix.
