Kitten not eating

My 9-month old male kitten is off his food and just sleeping all the time. He usually has a good appetite and is very lively. Everyone in the house (well, the humans anyway!) are suffering with a cold at the moment - is it possible that he may have caught it (or something similar?) And can anyone suggest some food I could tempt him with? Thanks

a cat can have a cold... but when mine have they have not really stopped eating completely. Harvey Pickle Pants was a bit down for a few days last week but has perked up again now.
To be on the safe side I would whip him to your local vets.. They will take his temperature and maybe give him a vitamin jab to perk him up.
At least then you will know he is OK...
And also - you wont have to call the vet out over Xmas break and incur massive 'holiday' charges!!!!

I would get him to the vet. Cats can go downhill very very quickly (personal experience) and it is better to check him out now before the weekend. Keep us posted on how the little fella is.

if you are worried get him to the vet just to put your mind at rest.

Your Kitten might be not getting enough nutrition. I don't think that your cold would harm him. It depends are you with him all the time?? I mean like is he always with you no matter where you go around in your house?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I did take him to the vet as advised, who diagnosed a virus and gave him an injection of antibiotics. The next moring the kitten had a violent convulsion, so we rushed him straight back to the vet who wasn't concerned by the convulsion and administered another injection. Sadly the convulsions continued and grew more frequent, and the little chap passed away in his sleep. We were distraught, and especially being around Christmas time didn't help matters.
I'm now keeping a close eye on my other kitten, who hasn't shown any signs of the virus (if that's what it was - I have my doubts).
I'm not sure what I could have done differently to avoid losing my kitten - perhaps he was just to weak to fight it and there was nothing I could have done.
