not seen the tv ad, but if it's the same guy as on the card ads on the tube, then it's James Jewel Osterberg, aka Iggy Pop.

Thanks for the info - I was also trying to think where I knew him from. He wasn't a bad looking guy in his youth, ah well, I suppose it happens to all of us!
