Brickwork in chimney
We are wanting to install a woodburner, and have taken out the small coal burning fire and opened up the chimney breast area to allow space to accommodate the woodburner. Work has been done by previous occupants, and we were horrified at the state of the brickwork. On the side wall in particular., there's a large hole where pipes have been removed at some time and the hole just left. We really don't want to have to remove all the bricks and then find imperial sized bricks to re lay as this would be a mammoth task. It has been suggested that we buy marble tiles and cover the whole chimney back and hearth, but I feel that brick would look better, and more in keeping with the woodburner. The house is 55 years old. If anyone could possibly advice, we would greatly appreciate it.

That is extremely helpful, and looking at the pictures you also sent, I have found just the brick face we want. If I can't find what we want here, I think we should come across to France. I can then stock up on wine, cheese, olive oil, etc!!!!!!
