Whose to blame

I had a slight bump in my car. I was in a queue of traffic approaching a very busy roundabout, the car in front of me was at the junction, she started to pull away and as she did so I looked to the right to see the oncoming traffic and took my foot off the brake (I was on a slight slope), then engaged my clutch but did not accelerate as I knew I had to stop at the roundabout, my car rolled forward and bumped the car in front as she have slammed her brakes on as she then decided she could not get out. There is no damage to my car (not even a scratch) there were no visible signs of damage to her car. I have now got a letter from a solicitor claiming damages and injury. Who is to blame.

I'm afraid you are... this happened to my brother and he got the blame... as for injury.. if you were just coasting then I can't see what injury the other driver could have sustained, however, in this current climate, those injury lawyers would sue bloody anyone!!

Good morning, you were in control of the car that hit hers therefore the blame lies with you. It sounds like a very minor incident, I'm no expert but I would expect " Whiplash injury" to arise. You should seek advice from your insurance company.

As already stated these sort of shunts are very common at roundabouts and juctions. Try to remember the advice 'Last Look Front.'

I also am not an expert, but you hit her car that was stationary, it is your fault.

I am afraid the blame lies with yourself, you should travel at a distance from the vehicle in front in which you are able to stop, This is a very common accident, you should always make sure your way ahead is clear prior to looking to your right. With regard to any injury caused I would put this in the hand of your insurance company as costs for whiplash injuries can run into thousands of pounds.
