broken up picture on tv

for more than a year I have had no true movies on sky. The picture is always broken up unwatchable at all times. Tried to get if fixed several times but still could not get it. I have freesat with sky. By chance this morning lo and behold I had true movies BUT by mistake our digital cordless phone had been switched off yes you have guessed it to watch true movies we now switch off phone. How or why anyone had this or know about this. Also one or two other channels broke up but with phone switched off they are perfect. Puzzled now.

All electronic devices emit radio waves. (For example, if you put a radio next to your PC or printer you'll hear loads of interference). They do that even when they're in 'standby' mode (as your phone is when you're not actually using it for a call)
Your phone is emitting radio waves which are finding their way into your Sky box. The frequencies of some of those radio waves are such that they cause problems with the reception of True Movies.
The signals could be finding their way into your box in a number of ways. They could simply be radiating directly from the phone to the Sky box. Or they could be passing along the phone line into the box. Or that could be going 'backwards' from your phone, into the BT cable, which in turn is located close to your Sky box (or to the down lead from your dish).

Firstly, break all of Sky's rules by (temporarily) disconnecting their box from your phone line (while leaving your phone switched on). If you can now see True Movies, it means that the interference was passing along the phone line. The solution is to ask Sky to install a filter in the phone line going into their box.
If that hasn't fixed the problem, reconnect the Sky box to the phone line (and leave your phone turned on). Move the phone as far away from the Sky box (and its associated cables, both 'in' and 'out') as possible. If that fixes the problem the interference is being caused by direct radiation. If so, you might have to make the greater separation of the items a permanent feature of your home (or get another phone). It might, however, still be worth trying a band-pass filter. (See below).
If neither of the two methods above work, you need to check whether your incoming phone line is anywhere near to your Sky box (or to the cable which feeds the box). If so (and assuming that you can't easily reposition things), you need to ask Sky to fit a band-pass filter at the point where their cable enters the Sky box. (As stated above, that might also help with a direct radiation problem).
