I went through a similar thing, I could drink absolutely anything a few years ago, and I got wasted one night on holiday and was ill for 4 days after. Since then I have not been able to stomach anything since! Like yourself, if I drink one too many even when i'm not mixing drinks I'm sick!
I wouldn't try to force yourself to drink if you don't like it anymore. I understand alcohol plays a big part in social scenarios but if you don't feel you can go out and have a soft drink then something's a bit wrong. I know plenty of people who never touch a drop simply because they don't like it - they still manage to have a good time (better even, as they get to laugh at everyone who is drunk, and they feel fine the next day!)
I don't want to sound all preachy (I like a drink as much as the next person!), but I would give yourself a break from alcohol for a bit.
try a dark rum in a tall glass with lots of ice and fill with diet coke.
I used to drink allsorts and was envious of people who had found their drink - then rum came to me.................hang on, i'll just go and get one.................mmm delicious!
This is the only drink I have had for about 13 years now - apart from the odd lager - and I never feel ill the next day.
If you like malibu you should like this as it is quite sweet ( regular coke is too sweet) oh, and the rum HAS to be Lambs.
Nobody has mentioned not to drink on an empty stomach. Always have a meal before you go out to drink, this seems to help absorb the alcohol and the effects are nothing like so bad the next day. Even a glass of milk will line your stomach so that the alcohol is not taken into the blood stream so quickly. Eat during the evening too, have the odd glass of water between drinks, and 2-3 glasses of water when you get home. This has always helped me a lot.
This from someone who has suffered the granddaddy of all hangovers - but has since grown up and doesn't do hangovers any more.
My favourite tipple is Southern Comfort and lemonade.
As a general rule, if you drink shorts that are clear(vodka, gin etc) the hangover is(allegedly!) supposed to be less severe as it means there are fewer chemicals contained within the drink. That said, try and avoid the cheaper makes of gin and vodka from Eastern europe. Stick to Smirnoff for vodka and Gordon's or Blue Sapphire for gin.
dont mix your drinks and try to drink water in between drinking alcohol you get hung over cause your dehidrated drinking water in between helps this no need to eat before drinking this could make you puke just try to stop yourself getting so dehidrated and drink a pint of water before going to bed aswell this really helps as for a nice drink my fave is jack daniels and coke not as harsh as bacardi not as sickly as malibu or baileys
ps if you cant drink water try a soft drink like lemonade
