Cordless telephone

We have a cordless telephone and would like to know if the handset should stand in the cradle all the time when not in use. Someone told us it should only be put in the cradle when it needs charging but how can we tell when that is , as unlike a mobile there is no indicating bar.

We have two cordless handsets and only put them back in the cradle at night time just to be safe.

We have two - and although I nag for them to be put back in the cradle after use - they rarely are. But they are usually hard to find.
I don't think it harms to keep them in the cradle full time although the batteries should be fully run down now and again.

If it uses NiMH batteries then it shouldn't matter - if they're NiCads then it really needs a full discharge. Of course, if it's a Philips, 3 minutes conversation should be enough to flatten the batteries completely
