shrinking dvd files

I haev a dvd file that is 4.35gb but will not copy as a dvd file folder as nero says there is not enought space on the disc (it is new and balnk and says 4.7gb). Do i need to make it small or am i maybe doing something worng. Please help. Thanks

firs let me explan that isk size is inicated as 1000 B = 1KB 1000 KB = 1 MB and so on. so 4.7 GB to the DVD producer is 4'700'000'000 Bytes. whereas to a computer and windows 1 KB = 1024, 1 MB = 1024 KB ecc. so the 4.7 GB is realy 4.35 GB. second what do you refer to as a DVD file. the best wy tosave a DVD on hard disk is to make it into an image file (the iso format is the most used) this reperesents the disk and can e treated like a DVD  espcially if loaded into a virual CD/DVD drive that is a software emulating a hardware drive. to save a DVD as an iso image nad recompress it if necesary u can use a programme that is freeware and called DVDShrik.
