Penalty points for speeding

My husband was driving my car last night and was flashed by a speed camera. I realise it will probably be �60 and 3 penalty points but how much extra do insurance companies charge on the car insurance? I assume it will affect both our cars as he has his own and is a named driver on my policy.

My insurance doubled when I got 3 points and a �60 fine.

It possibly makes a difference that I have 6 points that are about 4 years old. They are expired so far as the law is concerned, but the insurance companies don't forget as quickly.

When you say you were flashed, this does not necessarily mean that anything at all will happen.

I recently received a �60 fine and 3 points for speeding. I told my ins. company and no increase to my premium was made - they just wanted to know about it.

Mine didn't go up. But Mrs Buildersmate suffered an increase of �20 on her policy on which I am a sole named driver.
