We don't use our conservatory very much in winter but I would like a nice colourful plant in there. What kind is best that doesn't mind the cold. Thanks.
I've got a conservatory that is boiling in summer and freezing in winter. So far I've found that the following plants survive:
Jasmin
Passion Flower
Bower Vine
Hoya
Lemon tree
Having said that, this will be the first winter that they've experienced. So far they are still alive. Just.
Surprisingly, a Geranium will survive as long as it`s not close to the glass and near to the house walls, but keep it nearly bone dry until Spring, giving a little water just to keep it alive occasionally.
Mine is full of Easter and Christmas Cacti. They flower profusely! I can't understand why because the conservatory is really hot in the summer and really cool in the winter. But it's a riot of colour in there at the moment!!
Geraniums do well, but I can't stand the smell, so don't have them inside anymore.
