Hair Extensions
Has anyone had them? I would like to have them done for a wedding Ive been invited to in the summer, and was wandering if anyone could give their opinions on them. Do they ruin your hair even if you have them applied just the one time?
I was also thinking about maybe using the clip in ones instead, but how well are they disguised? ie can you see them if its a windy day?!! TIA

it would be ok for the wedding if thats the first day you wear them or get them close to the wedding date.
i think if its windy then they'll be fine. you could always get a hat.
or you could use the extensions to tie your hair up prettily and the clip would be hidden well as long as you put them in right, which youd probably get tips from your hairdresser or someone anyway.
i heard that the ones you get done at the hairdressers can take up to 6 hours. it looks good, but whether it's worth the time or not, i don't know. someone else at school had extensions, but she used heat to stick them oonto the ends of her hair. she said it didn't take long, but then, she didn't have that many so quite a lot of her hair was its normal length, which didn't look good either. have fun x

I believe you can have the glue bonded ones, where strands of the fake hair are atached to your own hair. It probably does cause some damage and the extensions need to be removed professionally.
Another way it is done, is by cane rowing your own hair and then the fake hair is stitched to the cane rows, but this is probably moreso done in Afro hairdressing.
I personally think extensions can look cheap and tacky, especially if done inexpensively and far to many wearers have theirs too long, so it looks even more fake.
Probably best to use the clip on one, then it's easy to take off. I don't know how easy they are to put in.

Thank you both for your answers.
I know what you mean Velvetee, I only want mine about 2-3 inches longer than my real hair, but it was the thickness I was after too because my hair is quite fine.
Reading back both of your answers, I think I will go for the clip on ones and rope in a friend to help me put them in!

I had some real hair extensions put in when I couldn't wait for my own hair to grow. You're then given the option of how long or short you want them to be, and they certainly add volume. If you have the plait and glue method, your extensions are given a life of about 3 months, but mine lasted for 7. Clip on ones'd be better for you if you don't intend having them in for any length of time. If you go for the more pemanent ones, a "half head" is enough to give you a lustrous look. A "full head" might make your hair volume look un-natural - and it's also more expensive.
