I can't see the point of desktop icons when you use firefox.
You can bookmark to the bookmarks toolbar, and all the icons are there, in a row. Depending on your theme you can get lots of icons on the toolbar - each one is easily customisable so you can remove the text and just have the icon.
It's up to you net, but all you have to do is right click on the relevant page, click 'bookmark this page' and then click the arrow at the folder to 'bookmarks toolbar'.
The icon is then magically along the top of your page, ready to be clicked.
When you have your bookmark in the bookmark toolbar, let's say Answerbank, you will see the AB icon along with AnswerBank Question & Answers (or something like). Obviously you don't want your toolbar swallowed up with just a few bookmarked sites.
Right click on the icon on your toolbar and click properties. This opens up a little box. Delete all the text in the 'name' box and close the box. Now you should only see the AB icon, taking up very little space
Thanks Ethel, sorry to be thick but I still don't understand.I have Google toolbar with a, star marked Bookmarks which I have never used, are you suggesting that in some way this is a substitute for icons on the desktop? is your desktop blank, showing only a wallpaper ? Ron.
