how much cheaper is calor gas heater than electricty?

my mates boiler has packed up an is having to use plug in heaters to heat the flat...

can anyone tell me whether a calor gas heater would be a cheaper option...? i believe the bottles are about �15...but hes paying �10-15 per week in electricity at the moment because of the heaters...?

so how long will the gas last etc??

From what I could work out, Calor gas is about 10 times more expensive than gas from the grid(?)
It may not quite that much more, but it's not all that far off.
Gas from the grid is about 4p/kWh of input energy - factored for the efficiency of the boiler system by say 80% (the other 20% is wasted up the flue).
LPG (Calor) is similar in price to peak electricity at say around 13p/kWh if you buy it in bulk into your own large tank, but is bound to be more in those silly little bottles.
How long the gas lasts depends on how much you have it on. It will also fill your rooms with water vapour, which may condense on cold surfaces if not ventilated - which is a Catch22 because it means opening the windows.
