Does anyone have one of these cards, if so how do they work and are they a good way of shopping on the internet.
having been a victim of bank fraud and credit card fraud on the internet I am very dubious about using my credit card on the internet again.

Some charge quite a large fee to acquire the card, but are fairly cheap to use after that. Others work the other way round. Some are best for just occasional use. Others are better for heavy use. And so on . . .
