If you know a shop where they put those tags on themselves, ask to have a look at the "tagging machine".  It may have a manufacturer's label (so may a box of spare labels).
You could use a Buttoneer to do it

Back in the days when I worked in retail we called it a kimble gun and the plastic tags were kimble bullets. I know a company called Avery make them, they call it, simply, a tagger, but they only sell directly to traders. A local stationers should be able to get one in for you but they might have to order it in especially, as these can sometimes be difficult to buy off the shelf. If you can let me know what area you're in I might even be able to give you some telephone numbers to contact.

Near Blackpool - in Lancashire

Hi Crisgal, you might want to try these for a start..

Longfellow Office Supplies - 01253 767644

BHM Business Supplies - 01253 594249

Agnew Supply Co. - 01253 765501

Failing that you could always try Office World or Staples if you have one nearby. Alternatively, the manufacturer's number is 01628 859500 if you need any more info.

Phew! That was rather long winded! ; )
