Any ideas why the pilot light on our gas boiler has suddenlly stopped working? Normally when you turn the thermostat up it retriggers the pilot light but this won't work any more. Thanks.

The flame of the pilot light heats a thermocouple, which in turn allows the gas to keep the flame burning.
a. Is the gas turned on.
b. does the pilot light when started and go out after a few seconds.
If the answer is b. then its probably the thermocouple.
My advice is to get a CORGI registered engineer to look at it so you dont blow yourself and family up.
Badlad.
is it a permanent pilot light or an electronic one?
