Avg update???

I have avg free 8 version, i need to update but struggling to get it sorted,i am not au fait with this kind of stuff,anyone had any probs the last few days with avg and can you tell me the easiest way to rectify this,as i dont want myself being open to all sorts of troubles,think it said the ctc file had failed!!!

click start and then run and copy and paste the below into the run box and hit enter

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avg8\update\download

that will open the folder where the CTF files are located, then click on the view menu and select details. then click on the column heading that says type to group all the CTF files together, delete all the CTF files and then re-run the AVG update and it should work fine.
