It was bad for us in 2007 when we lost a few close friends in quick succession, all young people in their 20s. My children have a very different attitude to life now, they experienced the losses more than I did in 3 of the cases, but we all have had to face the cruelty of life. I do know that my daughter especially was left stunned and lost with it all, so much so that without realising it, and with noone really grasping the depth of her grief, she became quite ill. I hope your friends daughter has someone looking out for her and not assuming because she is young she will cope. Despite being close to my daughter, i missed any sign that she had sunken into am extended bout of depression. This is why I am concerned now for her feelings and her future. She has lost so many in her short life, far more than I have in mine really. You expect to lose parents and grandparents, but not close friends in your own group.
