Whenever I try to download a .exe file from the 'net, Quicktime gets it. I click on the download link and a new page opens and Quicktime trys to open it! I am using IE 5. The registry setings seem OK. Help!

Possibly because in the QuickTime settings you've allowed it to be associated with this type of file. QuickTime is so very eager to do this. Open up it's setting and disallow its association with this and any other type of file you decide.
