looking for the greatest instrumental of all time. any ideas? the only good ones i know are 'ovary stripe' by kasabian and thats about it..though i am the ressurection is sort of a half instrumental.  any better suggestions?

I like 'Classical Gas' by Mason Williams, and 'Jessica' by The Allman Brothers.

did mark knopfler(dire straits guy) do a cover of classical gas? or is that a different song all together. i think it might be the same song because his is also a solo, either way its a really good song.
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is one of my all time faves.
...I love Ovary Stripe too, but my all time fave is I Love N.Y.E by Badly Drawn Boy...

London Kid by Jean Michel Jarre and that bloke from the Shadows. Also, Apache by the Shadows was pretty good. Chi Mai and other Enio Morricone stuff (like the Good, the Bad and the Ugly theme..).

in response to Mattk, obviously there are no right answers but i rated the answers on how useful they were to me or if they told me something new or if they explained their preference and why it's good. andy was the only person who answered at the time so i thanked him for that. satisfied? it's not a competiton!

I'm going to be picky back Andy! They also did a version of 'A Fifth of Beethoven' which I think is better than Walter Murphy's (though very similar).
Please ignore that statment. Andy's right, I'm wrong (and have been led up garden path. I will now go and stand in the corner!!)
