My daughter needs new glasses but not sure how often you can replace them on nhs?

the answer to that is, as often as the optician says so. within reason and definitely if the new prescription is very different from the last one. saying that i think the guidelines are for about 2 years. but you know what the NHS is like.

used to work in an opticians & it depended on the optometrist. some children were advised a new eye exam every 6 months, year or 2 years and if there is a change in prescription a new pair of specs is provided. one repair (frame or lenses) is also allowed a year (if i remember correctly!)

My daughter (age 9) wears specs and has her eyes tested every year at the opticians. On her last visit (February) I was told by the optician that she can have new specs if there is a change in the prescription. This years change in prescription was miniscule but she was still allowed new specs. I think if there was absolutely no change in prescription then there would have been no new specs. I suspect some opticians have some discretion or are willing to bend the rules. I know this is not a 'black & white' answer, but I hope it helps.

I wondered if you meant replace them because they were broken?

My son has to have his glasses replaced every 3 months or so because they break so easily. There has never been any issues with this.

After my test my prescrition had not changed but after 2 years I thought I would change them but as my glasses where in good conditition the optician would not give me a form  to get a  DSS rebate  on them.
