The phrase refers to friends who you know....can be more than your friends on somedays....with no strings attached!

I thought it would mean friends with income support, or friends with a nice car, a flash boat and a summer house by the sea!

friends with benefits, are friends who can have acasional sex without having to be tied down to a relationship. take it from me, if you want to keep them as a friend don't do anything! don't even kiss them. it never works out!
