Hi,

I have a VHS-C Camcorder and i would like to be able to save my footage (which is currently on the camcorder tapes) to my computer so that i can view it and save it in software like 'Windows Media Player' or similar. I don't know what sort of connectors i will need though as the only output on the camcorder is for a two socket audio/video cable. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the ports you have available on your video card - it may have video in via a socket similar to the camera's video out or perhaps s-vhs. If you do not have video in capabilities you may need a usb video capture device.
* s-video not s-vhs    duh!!
you can pick up a Graphics card which is fitted inside your PC, theres one in PC World for under 40 with S-Video and Componant inputs and it has video capturing built in.
Or if you prefer not installing a card you can buy something like this for about 30. Please note that I am not promoting this site (I have never bought from it) but merely showing you an example of the USB devices available.

oops, should have linked to the DVD Maker .

BTW if you intend to create videos of reasonable quality your PC needs to be spec'd at (or ideally better than)

  • 2 GHz processor
  • 256 Mb RAM
  • 20 Gb free HD space
