Thanks Zacmaster. I had already looked at the link you gave but I am always a bit suspicious about people who want to give me money without any apparent reason. I think I'll pay it in and see what happens as it looks genuine and no personal detail is involved.

I have just received a cheque for $21.87, the enclosed note does seem quite genuine and explanatory.

Some years ago I did agree a purchase of free software and can remember at the time, being annoyed that they sent further software which I was charged for but seemed to be on the basis that after receivng the free disc it was up to me to cancel any further items

This payment is for "Software continuiy services without your consent"

Thank you Man in Black. I have exactly the same cheque. I have checked the sites concerned and then remembered similar circumstances. I'll pay the cheque in and see how much I get. I can't see this being a scam as no details are asked for.
