Hi WBM ...

Meeting was good, but I'm really not fond of London. A lot of my business comes from there so I have to go from time to time. Sometimes I get to take my contacts out for lunch, so that's quite nice (although it's always me who pays). Yesterday I just had a small snackette in a patisserie, and then mooched around a bookshop.

Good you for the canal restoration work you're involved with ... that must be a satisfying thing to do.

Hello everbody.
One of my (many) dreams is to live on a houseboat. I met a lady last year who had a narrowboat - had half of it dedicated to a living area, the other half she had converted into a mobile bookshop - what a brilliant idea. She would just moor up, open the shop end of things, sit in the sunshine with a mug of tea or a glass of wine & chat to everyone passing on the towpath.
I want to be that person. (Well, not that particular person, but mine own version of that person). x

A lot of people live on their narrowboat salla. the canals are so peaceful and tranquil. limited to 6mph you have to relax, and, as you say, the people are so friendly.

Hi waterboatman yes I agree I don't live on one but in the summer there are ones here that do trips and you can have a meal and some nights there is entertainment.I always make a point of going as it is so relaxing.

In a decade or so's time I wouldn't mind being that Martha character from Corrie - her houseboat looks pretty nice - cosy, lots of books. Independent woman living alone & very happy & content (but I would like someone a bit more exciting than Ken Barlow to buy a kimono for....)
