I am setting up my own business but need to open a business bank account. What banks will help me as I have poor credit? I do not need any overdrafts or credit facilities only a debit card??
I'm sorry to have to tell you, but a friend of mine tried to open a new bank account with one of the On-Line banks a few years ago. He had a bad credit record and was turned down. He asked that if he won the Lottery, would they take him and they still said no!!! Things might have changed now though.
I was very pessimistic about getting a business account due to my past credit history. They were concerned that I may county court judgments but I didn't have them but every thing else was poor.
I was able to get a Visa Debit card and all other facilities with Barclays so I would try them. Natwest were able to open my account but with a Solo card so make sure you try.
They will need to see a sound business plan if you need an overdraft and they will only match what you put in it.
Cheque books, internet access, phone access etc tend to come as standard.
