I retrace my steps and re-enact my movements the last time I knew I had the something. If I've lost it within the house I usually find it, but if it's outside, particularly if it's of any value, I rarely do. A sad comment on my fellow humans!
simple. if it's a bank card or cheque the phone up and cancel it odds on it will show up within 5 minutes of your call. Failing this method try not too think about it at all from about ten minutes then come back to the subject anew sometimes works for me.
PS if the parkhead stands for your being a supproter of a certain east end of glasgow football team then i hope to see you at the convention in the new year. check out tartanwizards question for more details
I always try looking for something else I've lost. For some reason I always find loads of other things I've been looking for before, but not usually the one I need at that time.
I find the best way to to locate something you have lost is to go out and spend lots of money and or time replacing it, the lost item will almost certainly turn up almost immediately. Worked a treat when I spent 6 months looking for my passport, went to all the trouble of replacing it, went to put my new passport safely in a draw only to find my old passport happily nestling in there ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
I read a solution some time ago,you get a needle thread some cotton through it swing the needle round your outstretched palm three times and say 'I pin the devil' three times and your lost item will be found.I will go and try it now for you if I could just remember where the bloody needle and cotton are.
An old mate of mine, used to go and sit on the lav for a think, and 9 times out of ten, he'd remember where the item was! He swore he wasn't winding me up, but I'm still not convinced.
