School Dinners anyone?

What were/are the best (I can honestly say none from my old school and I live to eat!!) and worst school dinner?

Am I alone in the boiled-to-submission veggies and meat that was reconstituted Hush Puppies group?

(Grammar school in the late 50's me) so maybe that is why nobody has mentioned Lemon Love Cake or Chocolate crunch with lovely thick synthetic cream.The crunch was so hard it was flying all over the canteen when attaked with a spoon or fork!

The worst was really dark greens which you could smell cooking all morning and were as tough as old boots.Duty teachers wouldn't let the girls at each table collect the second course until the dish was empty.

At primary school,on cold days, our bottles of milk (1/3pint) were stood in their crates on top of the radiator to defrost, enough to put you off milk for the rest of your life.
