drinking lighter fluid

If you drank lighter fluid (like what happened in Withnail and I) what would the consequesces be. would you get drunk? I mean what would happen?

I know someone who does this. He's a depressed alcoholic and drinks lighter fluid when he's ran out of booze. I can only assume it give the same drunk affect.

seriously, it is a stupid thing to drink, I know someone who drank brasso mixed with shoe polish, they were so desperate for booze, it is not nice to see :-(

arrrgh!..seen some alcoholics in prison who were drinking methylated spirit which had been filtered through some slices of plain bread to remove the poisonous purple dye...rough!
