can anybody tell me how & where to get a proxy server so I can download BBC stuff here in Spain where I spend time, also what I need to do would help as well.

You're wasting your time - all the free UK proxies (and it must be UK) are so slow (IMHO), that they are unusable for what you want.

Try down loading on speed it works for me in Cyprus.
