we were given a white orchid two years ago,it was in flower in a transparent pot,it is on a window sill with plenty of light and is north facing,it is fed per instructions,it buds up nicely but they drop before flowering,any advise please

could be that it is not humid enough for the plant. You could stand the pot in a tray of pebbles, keeping the waterlevel below the bottom of the pot so as not to waterlog the pot. Misting is also reccommended but I find it makes a muck of the window. The ohther thing that I have found is that a cold draught will make the buds drop or a sharp drop in nighttime temp.
