The sort of fast beat disco that was very big, particularly but not exclusively with the gay community, in the late 70s to mid 80s - Donna Summer (for a while), Sylvester, Sinitta, Hazell Dean, that sort of thing.

salla - I'd have said Erasure were more pop than disco, but they're not far off. Never found them as irritating though.

I'd say cautious and apprehensive rather than shy and inexperienced, but that's regarding matters of the heart. Here we're talking about 80s music - much more within my comfort zone. ;-)
