As an agnostic, I find rants motivated by any religion disappointing (at best). This thread seems to have attracted some tabloid-type responses and may therefore not be a serious discussion. To the xenophobes I would point out that legal immigrants are just that and if a majority wants to change the rules then in a democracy they will be changed. Illegal immigrants do not receive benefits, I assume, at least only as long as it takes to deport them. In respect of illegal immigration, Spain and Italy have a far worse burden than the UK. This country (the UK) exports (by way of ordinary travel and settlement) many undesirable UK nationals whom people in the host countries would dearly be shot of but cannot because they are fully entitled to stay in their chosen place. Above all, from personal experience, it is entirely wrong for anyone to assume a Muslim is automatically a terrorist just as it is wrong to assume someone wearing a baseball cap (a US feature) wears a gun. There are many Muslims in this country and elsewhere whom I would rather associate with than some so-called Christians - these Muslims are as appalled by the atrocities as I and the majority of the human race of all colours, Muslim or not.
