how do i clean a ps2 disk so that it reads.   i get a message saying "error reading disk, please fix the problem and push ok." or something to that effect.

if you have a movie rental store you can take it there and they should be able to clean it for you. thats how it works here anyway.

I worked for a year with the UK's largest disc repair company. Not every PS2 disc is repairable, particularly if it is a blue disc. Your best bet is to either, as neurosurgeon says try a local movie store, otheriwse try www.totaldiscrepair.co.uk

If it's just smears and smudges, run it under the tap and clean with a smooth cloth, working from centre to edge (ie, NOT round and round). Dry in the same manner with tissue.

If it's scratched though, it's a bit harder. Look here for some tips

A "Friend" of mine had this problem, Where the disc was uncleanable, So he hired out the same game from his local games rental store, swapped the games, and phoned the shop to say the game was unplayable and took the game back. But not for one moment am i suggesting you do the same.

Its usually moisture or greese on the disk that cause this problem. Sometimes it can be moistue on the laser itself in which case you just have to wait - dvd lasers dont like fluctuating temperatures.

I've read in a 'tips and tricks' section of my boyf mag that putting in the freezer works...sounds a bit odd but may be worth a try....
