We have 2 black Labradors. One is 10 and the other is 4. Charlie, the 10 year old wags his tail furiously at the drop of a hat whilst Toby, the little one, only wags his tail when he is really excited. He seems to be thinking about a situation before deciding whether it's worthy of a wag.
Can anyone explain the different way my dogs treat the "wagging" thing?
Also, Toby never salivates when his dinner is being prepared whilst with Charlie, there is a mini Niagara Falls.
We've had 8 Labs over the last 30 years and I've never had one like Toby.
Ha!! I wasn't going to mention this in case I got "stick" from some other Abers, but Toby is "Sandringham Toby" and the Queen bred him. We drove down to Sandringham to collect him.
Now, could THIS be the reason. He's just too snooty!! We love him dearly though and he's a loving dog.
My friend has labs, both different lines and different personalities.
Sandingham labs did almost die out some years ago and she believes a Davey Lisett was bought in to resurrect the breeding stock, not sure though. Dont think the queen herself bred them?
Although I don't suppose for one minute HM was there when they were conceived or whelped, she is listed as the breeder in the Breed Records Supplement. As far as the KC is concerned, the breeder is the owner of the bitch at the time of mating.
