A very dear friend of mine has got himself into a lot of debt over the past couple of years and has recently became unemployed. He is at a real low point of his life at the moment because creditors are getting on top of him and he is finding it hard to meet payments. He confided in me the other day that he has been sending the letters back with deceased written on the front in hope that they leave him alone. Just out of curiosity can he treally get away with that, surely its best to be upfront isnt it?
hello gossipgirl!
if i was you i would advise your friend to go to the nearest citizens advice bureaux. free legal advice is available and they can put him in touch with debt advisors. he is just digging a bigger hole for himself as things stand and events will eventually catch up with him unless he faces the problem head on!
Telling his creditors that he is dead is illegal and he can land himself into a lot of trouble. Your friend should seek advice from his local Citizens Advice Bureau who will be able to speak to his creditors on his behalf and give them a thorough rundown of his disposable income and if he cannot physically pay his creditors they will have to accept that until he is in a better financial position.
Your friend will feel alot better if he tackles his financial difficulties head on instead of thinking ignoring them will make them go away!
i was in the same boat four years ago with being 15,000 i debt I contacted a debt management company who were very sympathic and after giving them all of my information and creditors names etc, i slept so good. I now have only six months to go and i will be free and clear. By the way, when i was paying my creditors, i was trying to pay at least 800 amonth. With my debt management company, I was paying140 a month.
Good Luck. (there is always a solution.
