Ruthann there was a piece on our local news about people knitting woolly coats for rescued chickens until their feathers grow back. I take it you don't do that? :-)
no i had ones with a few feathers could have had completly bald ones and they would have supplied me with the little woolies till they refeathered mine have had their first day of complete freedom today with no fences at all just roamed where they felt like some have been onto the paddock but a couple have only ventured out of the door onto the yard but they will get there i will post another photo when they are well, i cant understand what they feed them on as they are so thin nothing but skin over bone but the first day they laid 9 eggs chicken in that condition shouldnt be laying eggs thank fully they have gone off the lay now so all their food is going into getting them built up and back to normal hens they were kept 5 to a cage and could not stand up or flap their wings when they get a flap now they look so surprised i spend far too long watching them and talking to them
That is lovely ruthann, I would love to have some chickens and will one day, I am determined. I have enough garden space but no secure place and not much time at present
Hi ruthann , my neice is now housing rescued hens and they were not too good when they arrived but are now magnificent birds with lovely plumage and healthy eyes .
