I'm still stuck on 13 across:

Eleanor Farjeon's court was shaking in it (4)

-H-E

Of course, "shoe" fits but I can't find any reference to a court shaking in a shoe!
Any help would be appreciated!

Eleanor Farjeons wrote Nellas Dancing Shoes and court shoe ties in, so I think shoe is the only possible answer
Question Author
You're probably right, but I'm surprised at the singular "it" unless Nella happened to have only one foot.
"shoe" is correct (Farjeon, Nursery Rhymes of London Town, 1916)
