channel 4 - porn

every week there seems to be some kind of programme about the sex trade /porn industry/sex tips etc on channel 4. This is always done in a serious documentary or art house style as if trying to attract a more intellectual viewer. i have no probs prgrammes containing sex scenes but why not just have done with it and show a porn film. At least channel 5, be it tacky, are honest and less pretentious about it.

I agree ems27, C4 advertise these programes for a more middle class 'Guaridan' type but its so transparent.

One day C4 will run out of 'shocking' topics now they've done the Banned season, autopsies and the porn industry. It does seem as though someone in the C4 office is thinking hard about what will shock viewers so as to attract viewing numbers. Yeah just put on a porno and be done with it, none of this faffing around and pretending to be intellectual ;o)

I watched it last night and just saw it as a documentary. I actually felt quite sorry for the blonde woman who was trying to get into the porn film industry just to try and prove to herself that she was beautiful and worth something. She seemed quite a caring and intelligent person, and I found it quite frustrating to see her 'degrading' herself in order to 'cure' her many insecurities. I didn't find it tittilating in any way. Just informative. It's not every day that we get to see what goes on behind the scenes in this kind of work. It did make me smile to think about how much of a ribbing that the 'unable to perform' chaps must have got down the local!!

I read somewhere about a young lady in the US who was a porn star. She now Is HIV because one of her co stars had it and told no one about it. Now there is a lobby trying to make the producer of these films to make there actors wear condoms. Fat chance.

I think channel four has a program buyer who is porn obsessed so does channel 5. To watch it in the privacy of your own home is one thing. thats up to you and no one else unless of course someone is being hurt in these films, but to have them on Tv late night or not is something I think the program makers should think about seriously. I'm not a prude but please can't we have some good late night movies for a change.

As always the person who always complains about sex in programs always starts off thier argument with "I am not a prude but" or as you have said in your point that you dont have a problem with sex in programmes. Did you actually watch the program the first one was very good it showed the 2 sides of the argument and last nights program was very sad as wispy68 said, people automatically assume that these programs are about titilation. We have just got a new t.v with a button to block out "these" programs its called the off switch as for the banned season on channel 4 that was very good as things that were frowned upon 10-15 years ago now appear in prime time veiwing

 The programme on " Porn Virgins "( a needless  Ooh Matron title )confirmed the joyless nature of this industry . I wish ,for once, that the director could cut away when the subject breaks down ( as one of the ladies did ) and show a little decency .

i'd hardly call ****** ******* for money 'ladies'. Its offensive to women who really are ladies. On a different note; whats so pretentious about not descending into tacky, lurid sex show? thats not what the programme was about, i don't think.
