Eating lying down

After many years of a very bad back problem where I couldn't sit down, only lie down, I have got used to eating whilst lying on my side, on my bed.Could there be any danger in doing this? I don't get indigestion-- and obviously don't do it when I have visitors!!

You're continuing in a Roman tradition. Lying on the left side on a couch called a lectus triclinaris with elbow propped up on a cushion, they would face the table, mensa, and standing slaves would serve them food. I'd invite your guests to join you on the couch, after all it didn't seem to prevent the Romans from conquering most of the known world, who knows what it might to for you!
