yes, I know the area has changed since then - although many of the streets remain the same - Westwood Street has long since gone though, I think to make way for Bourges Boulevard. He lived from 1831 to 1913. Walpole Street was one of them where he owned a lot of houses - his last house was only sold 10 years ago!

My grandfather went to Deacons (but he would have been well before your time) and my mother went to the County School and worked briefly at Perkins Engines, but I went to school in Stamford. The Itters (of the brickworks and Itter Park) are also relations.

Bury St Edmunds, I think you said that you live........a mate of mine a retired ophthalmic surgeon and his wife (famous iced cake maker she tells me) has retired to B St E.
Yes it is BSE. Lovely place to retire to (although I am planning on retiring to Scotland). Even nicer place to work in. Something very calming about Suffolk!
