Lurcher Bottom Problems!!!
I have noticed that my Lurcher Cross has started to sit down and wipe her bottom on the floor as if her bottom is itching.
Anyone have any ideas what this could be and what i could do to solve this problem??

She used to be able to part-empty them herself (MOST unpleasant I have to say), but I would scoot to the vets if I were you.
One word of warning though - hold your breath when it's being done - rancid fish is the best way of describing it, and it really can burn your retinas away!
Happy Hounding!!
I have had both a dog and a bitch with this prob and the vet taught me to empty the glands myself because it was less stressful for the dogs and the vet (!) and I could do it in the garden and hose the area to get rid of the incredibly stinky stuff. My dog learned to part treat himself but would creep off to his dog bed to do it....BAD idea!!!
When he was a pup, our (very light) dog guard fell on him in the back of the car and the fright made him evacuate them in the car whoooeeee! If your bitch's faeces are not very bulky. additonal fibre in the diet to help her pass a bigger lump can help to keep the glands empty. They are actually designed to be squeezed when poohing to deliver a little scented marker on the pooh so ther dogs know who has been there (everyone enjoying their breakfast?? anyone eating sausages???)
