Telephone calling plans
2 Answers
I've just spent ages looking at BT's website and apparently have what is called an 'unlimited week-end plan' at 10.27 per month, which presumably I'm paying for whether I use it or not. I make very little use of my telephone but could need it at any time in an emergency. Must I have a calling plan? Can anyone suggest a better arrangement please?

Otherwise you cannot get the phone line cheaper out of BT.
Why don't you just have a PAYD mobile if you make so few calls?

Thank you buildersmate. I rather thought it might be the case that I can't get a cheaper line. It seems there is no option other than choose the cheapest plan which I believe I have done, although I'd prefer not to have a plan at all and just pay for whatever calls I make. Being a fairly home-bound person I don't feel I would want to be without a land line, although mobiles are useful. I wonder if any reader has experience of other telephone service providers.
